This might be one of the more obvious shots to highlight, but how can you ignore it? Every choice in this shot is perfect.
Now, about the close-ups. Sure, they might be a little out of control, but each one is so gorgeous in its own right. Here are a few to absorb.
In addition to these nine shots, I counted at least 50+ more that could be categorized as a close-up. It seemed like almost every dialog scene worked its way up to a close-up of some kind, if not an extreme close-up. Obviously Demme's use of the close shot has been discussed many times before.
